As part of its ongoing commitment to community outreach and scientific awareness under the aegis of Scientific Social Responsibility (SSR) of the Institute, CSIR-CDRI, Lucknow, organised a Health Awareness Programme and Free Medical Screening Camp under the CSIR-JIGYASA Programme on 30 July 2025 at Primary School, Nai Basti, Dhanewa, Malihabad, Lucknow.
The event aimed to educate rural populations about lifestyle-related diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and hypertension, which are becoming increasingly prevalent across all age groups. The initiative focused on the importance of early detection, preventive care, and informed lifestyle choices.
A dedicated 15-member team of CSIR-CDRI, including scientists, technical staff, and PhD scholars, conducted health screenings, including blood pressure, blood sugar, and Body Mass Index (BMI) checks. Informative sessions were held to promote balanced nutrition, regular physical activity, and mental well-being and a special session on menstrual hygiene and women's health.
The camp witnessed an overwhelming response, with over 170 villagers availing themselves of the free health check-up services. Participants received personalised health guidance and were encouraged to adopt healthier habits for long-term well-being.
The programme was successfully conducted with active support from the school’s Principal and other teachers. Gram Pradhan, Mr Vipin Kumar, was also present during the programme along with other local community members.
The enthusiastic participation of residents reflected a strong interest in health education and preventive care.
