To generate the future feedstock for energy & nutraceuticals, a CSIR Integrated Skill Training Programme on “Microalgal Diversity and their Biotechnological Potentials” was organised at CSIR-Central Salt & Marine Chemicals Research Institute (CSMCRI), Bhavnagar.  The programme was coordinated by Dr Subir Kumar Mandal, Principal Scientist, Applied Phycology and Biotechnology, at the CSIR-CSMCRI premises from 12 to 14 September 2023.  Twelve participants, including MSc students, ongoing PhD students, and Assistant Lecturers, participated from various Universities of Gujarat and Odisha.

The participants experienced hands-on training on the morphological and molecular identification of microalgae, culturing them, and scaling up to mass cultivations. They also learned about the extraction of products from thereof. All the participants completed their training programme and received certificates during the valedictory function.
