CSIR-NIScPR Celebrates First Foundation Day

CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR), New Delhi, is celebrating its first foundation day from 13-14 January 2022 in hybrid mode. Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology; Minister of State (Independent Charge) Earth Sciences; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh inaugurated the programme on 13 January 2022 at CSIR-NIScPR.

Addressing the gathering at the newly created institute’s first foundation day, the Hon'ble Minister said that moving beyond the startup movement, we need to promote sustainable start-ups with livelihood opportunities. Further, he added that in line with the vision of collaboration between S&T departments, CSIR-NIScPR needs to go in for extended integration with educational institutions & communicate about alternate job opportunities for the youth".

Recollecting the role of CSIR-NIScPR, Dr Shekar C. Mande, Director-General, CSIR, said that the institute plays an important role in the realm of science communication and policy research. He also informed that Hon’ble Dr Jitendra Singh has suggested that the institute needs to coordinate with other organisations in policy studies.

Later, the Hon’ble Minister also launched the institute’s new website & released the CSIR-TRL Compendium, CSIR Rural Technologies Compendium, Technology Readiness Level 6 Compendium and Policy Bulletin.

Earlier in her welcome address, Prof. Ranjana Aggarwal, Director, CSIR-NIScPR, welcoming the gathering said that CSIR-NIScPR hopes to create a benchmark in science communication and policy research.

The two-day programme will also have an online foundation day lecture on the topic “Indian Traditional Knowledge: An Endless Continuum” on 14 January 2022 by Prof. B N Jagatap, Senior Professor, IIT Bombay.
